Van Dyck Art Exhibit Comes to Lake County

Lake County art enthusiasts can explore significant works created around 1620, featuring pieces by artist Anthony van Dyck. These artworks, dating from approximately 1618 to 1621, offer a glimpse into the early 17th century's artistic landscape.

Anthony van Dyck created "The Apostle Judas Thaddaeus" between 1619 and 1621. The Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna houses this work. Van Dyck also completed "The Continence of Scipio" between 1620 and 1621, which is on display at the Christ Church Picture Gallery in Oxford.

The exhibition also includes multiple depictions of "The Betrayal of Christ." Bristol Museum and Art Gallery holds a version created between 1618 and 1620. The Minneapolis Institute of Art's collection includes another version, dated to approximately 1620.

These pieces showcase van Dyck's skill and contribution to Baroque art during a prolific period of his output.
