The USPS Passport Appointment Scheduling system allows customers to schedule in-person passport services at participating Post Office locations. The process involves four main steps: choosing a service type, searching by location or date, selecting an available appointment time, and confirming contact information for verification. Service options include: New Passport Only, New Passport with Photo Services, Passport Renewal, Digital Photo Services Only, and Hard Copy Photo Services Only. Users can specify the number of adults and minors under 16 years old who will be attending the appointment. The system allows searching for appointments up to 4 weeks in advance. Users can search by location (within 1-100 mile radius) or by preferred date. The system displays the 5 closest locations with available appointments. Appointment times are displayed in the proper time zone of the Passport Acceptance Facility. Customers are asked to arrive 10 minutes before their scheduled appointment, with each appointment taking approximately 15 minutes per person. To confirm an appointment, users must provide first name, last name, phone number, and email address, and select a verification method (text message or email). Identity verification is required through a 6-digit verification code. Users can manage scheduled appointments by entering a confirmation number and contact information. Appointments can be modified until a specified deadline, with options to change date, time, or number of applicants. Appointments can also be canceled. The system notes that passport renewal appointments cannot be made online for all applicants; eligible customers must either renew by mail or renew online through the State Department portal. USPS offers digital photo services at many locations that comply with US Department of State regulations. An alert directs users to complete and print passport application forms before applying at https://pptform.state.gov. The Privacy Act Statement explains that information is used to schedule appointments and identify fraudulent transactions, with authorization under 39 U.S.C. 401, 403, and 404. Information is not disclosed to third parties without consent except as legally required.
