The University of West Florida Police Department provides a network of 65 emergency blue light telephones across the main campus to enhance safety. These devices offer direct, immediate contact with UWF Police dispatchers for threats, suspicious activity, or any need for police assistance.

The blue light phones, identified by their freestanding white poles or wall-mounted boxes marked with red "EMERGENCY" lettering, feature a strobe light that activates during use. They are strategically placed in parking lots, jogging paths, walkways, and near classrooms, ensuring accessibility for students, faculty, and visitors.

To use a phone, open the box and press the red button. This action connects the user to a dispatcher. If there is insufficient time to open the box, striking the side of the pole triggers a tamper alarm, which also alerts dispatch to the phone's location and prompts an officer response.

UWF Police respond to every blue light phone activation. For non-emergency matters, the UWF Police Department at 11000 University Parkway, Building 94, Pensacola, FL 32514, can be reached at 850.474.2415 or [email protected]. All calls for service require dispatch.

Additional campus safety resources include the UWF Guardian Campus Safety App, information on Victim's Rights and VINElink, and brochures on biased policing and general campus safety.
