ESCAMBIA COASTAL AREA – IMMEDIATE ACTION REQUIRED. A Storm Surge Warning has been issued for Escambia Coastal, including Pensacola, Pensacola Beach, and Perdido Bay, by the National Weather Service Mobile AL, effective October 9 at 9:49 PM CDT.

Residents in these areas must shelter against life-threatening storm surge of greater than 3 feet above ground. Flood preparations and ordered evacuations should be complete. Evacuees must be in shelters well away from storm surge flooding. Do not venture outside.

Life-threatening wind with gusts up to 90 mph is expected through the next few hours. The wind threat has decreased, but considerable wind damage is still possible. Shelter from life-threatening wind now. Potential for major flooding from heavy rain is also anticipated, with additional rainfall of around 1 inch. Emergency plans should include potential for major flooding; evacuations and rescues are likely. Heed any flood watches and warnings.

A few tornadoes are possible, with a decreased threat from previous assessments. Stay within your shelter, keeping informed of the latest tornado situation. If a tornado warning is issued, move quickly to the safest place within your shelter.
