Rip Current Warning for Northern Erie County Until 11 PM Tonight

Northern Erie County residents and visitors are advised to remain out of Lake Erie waters due to a high risk of rip currents. The National Weather Service (NWS) Cleveland OH has issued a Beach Hazards Statement effective immediately, September 22, 2026, until 11:00 PM EDT tonight.

The NWS reports that wind and wave action will cause dangerous currents along the lakeshore. Swimmers should not enter the water as these currents can pull individuals away from the shore, through sandbars, and along structures extending into the lake.

To ensure safety, all individuals are instructed to remain out of the water to avoid hazardous swimming conditions. This statement applies specifically to Northern Erie County.
