High Wind Watch Issued: Gusts Up to 70 MPH Expected

Residents in the Central Mountains and Southern Mountains should prepare for high winds. The National Weather Service (NWS) Salt Lake City has issued a High Wind Watch effective from Sunday morning, October 11, through late Sunday night, October 11, 2026. This watch was issued today, October 9, at 1:12 PM MDT and remains in effect until October 12 at 6:00 AM MDT.

South winds are anticipated to reach speeds of 30 to 40 mph, with gusts potentially exceeding 70 mph. These conditions may lead to several impacts, including the movement of loose debris, potential property damage, and power outages. Travel could become difficult, particularly for high-profile vehicles and those towing trailers.
