Residents in White Pine, Southern Lander, Southern Eureka, Northeastern Nye, and Northwestern Nye Counties should prepare for strong winds. The National Weather Service in Elko issued a high wind watch, which was in effect from Tuesday morning through Tuesday evening.
The watch warned of south winds blowing between 35 and 45 miles per hour, with gusts potentially reaching up to 60 miles per hour. These conditions pose a significant risk, as gusty winds are expected to blow around unsecured objects. Driving may become difficult, particularly for high-profile vehicles, and blowing dust could reduce visibility to one mile or less in some areas.
Residents were advised to monitor the latest forecasts for updates and to take precautions. Securing loose outdoor items or sheltering them in a safe location before the winds began was recommended.
