Dense Fog Advisory for Northern Piedmont and Coastal Plain until 9 AM
Dense fog is impacting driving conditions across the northern Piedmont and Coastal Plain until 9 AM today. Drivers should reduce speed and allow extra time.
Drivers in the northern Piedmont and northern Coastal Plain, particularly along and north of Interstate 40 and US Highway 64, should exercise extreme caution this morning due to areas of patchy fog.
The National Weather Service in Raleigh has issued a Special Weather Statement effective until 9:00 AM EDT today, September 30, 2026. Visibilities may be reduced to one-quarter mile or less in some areas, including Person, Granville, Franklin, Nash, Vance, Warren, Halifax, Edgecombe, and Wilson Counties. Other affected areas include Forsyth, Guilford, Alamance, Orange, Durham, and Wake Counties.
If driving this morning, allow extra time to reach your destination. Reduce driving speeds, increase following distances, and use only low beam headlights. Visibilities are expected to improve by 9 AM this morning.
