Hendry County Lifts Burn Ban | Outdoor Burning Resumes

Staff Writer
June 16, 2026
Hendry County lifts countywide burn ban

Hendry County residents can resume outdoor burning as of June 16, following the lifting of a countywide burn ban on unregulated fires.

Property owners may burn yard waste and debris, but must follow county safety guidelines. Burn piles cannot exceed 8 feet in diameter without authorization from the Florida Forest Service. Residents must maintain an open area around the fire, keep a water source nearby, and never leave a fire unattended. All fires must be completely extinguished before residents leave the area.

Residents also must ignite fires no earlier than 9 a.m. Eastern time and extinguish them at least one hour before sunset. They should check weather conditions before burning.

Violating burning regulations may result in fines or other penalties. Residents unsure whether their burn requires additional authorization should contact the Florida Forest Service before proceeding.
