Residents in Northwest Georgia are advised to drive with extreme caution this morning due to patchy dense fog impacting visibility. The National Weather Service (NWS) Peachtree City GA issued a Special Weather Statement at 6:46 AM EDT, effective immediately and expiring at 10:00 AM EDT today, October 12, 2026.

The alert indicates that visibilities will be reduced to less than one-quarter of a mile in valleys and lower elevation areas. Affected counties include Dade, Walker, Catoosa, Whitfield, Murray, Fannin, Gilmer, Chattooga, Gordon, Pickens, Floyd, Bartow, and Polk.

If you are driving this morning, the NWS urges you to slow down, use low-beam headlights, and leave extra distance between your vehicle and the one in front of you. The fog is expected to lift after 10 AM.
