Residents of the Kittitas Valley should take immediate steps to protect sensitive plants from freezing temperatures as a Freeze Watch has been issued. The National Weather Service in Pendleton, OR, has issued the watch effective from late Sunday evening, October 10, through Monday morning, October 11.

Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 29 degrees Fahrenheit are possible during this period. These conditions pose a significant risk to crops and other sensitive vegetation. Unprotected outdoor plumbing could also sustain damage.

The Freeze Watch is in effect for the entire Kittitas Valley. It was issued on October 10 at 1:45 PM PDT and remains in effect until October 12 at 9:00 AM PDT.

Community members are advised to act now to protect tender plants from the cold. Further updates will be provided as necessary.
