Wind Advisory Issued: Gusts Up To 60 MPH Expected This Weekend
A Wind Advisory has been issued by NWS Charleston, WV, for parts of Virginia and West Virginia, effective from Saturday at 5 PM EDT until Sunday at 11 AM EDT, with gusts up to 60 mph expected.
A Wind Advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Charleston, WV, impacting portions of southwest Virginia and various counties in West Virginia. The advisory is effective from 5 PM EDT on Saturday, October 10th, until 11 AM EDT on Sunday, October 11th.
Residents in the affected areas should secure loose outdoor objects to prevent them from blowing away. Southeast winds are expected to reach 20 to 30 mph, with gusts up to 50 mph. Isolated gusts up to 60 mph are possible along the highest ridgelines and favored terrain for downslope winds.
The affected areas include Dickenson and Buchanan counties in Virginia. In West Virginia, the advisory covers McDowell, Wyoming, Northwest Raleigh, Southeast Raleigh, Northwest Fayette, Southeast Fayette, Northwest Nicholas, Southeast Nicholas, Northwest Webster, Southeast Webster, Northwest Pocahontas, Northwest Randolph, and Southeast Randolph counties.
