General Dynamics Executive Speaks at Davis & Elkins Commencement
Dr. Shane Berg, senior vice president for human resources, strategy, and administration at General Dynamics, will deliver the keynote address at Davis & Elkins College's 117th Commencement on Saturday, May 9, in Harper-McNeeley Auditorium.
Berg earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Jamestown in North Dakota, a master's degree from Princeton Theological Seminary, and a doctorate from Yale University. He spent 16 years at Princeton Theological Seminary, where he taught from 2005 to 2013 before joining the senior leadership team in 2014. He became executive vice president in 2016.
Berg joined General Dynamics in 2022 as senior vice president for planning and development. He moved to his current role overseeing human resources and administration, and serves as executive sponsor of the company's Cyber Council and as a commissioner at the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery.
D&E President Chris A. Wood said Berg's background at a small rural Presbyterian college made him an ideal speaker. "He has distinguished himself both within higher education and in corporate America," Wood said. "Because he experienced the quality education offered at an institution like ours, he understands the unique value of D&E."
Berg serves on the board of trustees at the University of Jamestown. He is a native of Jamestown, North Dakota, and lives with his wife Corrie, a Christian educator in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), and their three sons: Anders, Mathias, and Soren.
