Since September 1, 2009, the Church of the Nazarene’s Global Ministry Center (GMC) proudly flies a flag each week of one of the many nations in which the denomination is present in ministry. Leaders were invited to send a national flag to be flown at the GMC alongside the flag of the United States*. The national flags rotate weekly, and photos of them raised are sent to the church leaders of that country. This week: Mali The Church of the Nazarene officially entered Mali in 2010. Mali had a population of 22,634,423 in 2025. Mali has not yet reported any Churches of the Nazarene. Mali is on the Africa Region. It flies to the left of the GMC host-nation United States flag, which flies above the host-state flag of Kansas. The Christian flag flies on the third pole. Happy summer, Eaton Rapids! There is a great deal happening throughout the city, particularly with several construction projects underway. We understand that delays and detours can be inconvenient, and we sincerely appreciate your patience as this work moves forward. Once completed, we hope these improvements will prove to be well worth the temporary disruption. City Council will consider adoption of the 2026–2027 fiscal year budget at its June 8th meeting. Our Budget Committee has worked diligently to develop a secure and stable budget, and residents are welcome to review a copy on the City’s website or stop by City Hall to request one. We value your input and encourage you to share any feedback prior to the June 8th meeting. June 6th marks our Summer Kickoff, sponsored by the Eaton Rapids Arts Council and the Downtown Development Authority. The Community Market begins that day and will continue each Saturday through September 26th. We hope you will take time to visit our wonderful vendors and enjoy the many activities planned, including Art in the Park, the 2nd Annual Wooden Boat Show, and more. The Eaton County Land Bank continues to work with a consultant to develop a Request for Proposal (RFP) for prospective contractors to bid on the demolition and environmental cleanup of the former Horner Mill site. Our goal is to make the most effective use of the funding awarded through Congressman Tom Barrett’s office while also pursuing additional resources needed to complete the project.
