Dolan, Amanda Martins, Michael Anderson [email protected] ; (516) 869-7794 North Hempstead Launches New “America 250” Website Central Source for All Town-wide Anniversary Events Manhasset, NY – Town of North Hempstead Supervisor Jennifer DeSena and the Town Board recently announced the launch of the Town’s new “America 250” website at www.northhempsteadny.live. The new site will serve as a central source for events, programs, and initiatives celebrating the nation’s upcoming 250th anniversary. As one of the largest and most diverse municipalities on Long Island, the Town of North Hempstead—home to more than 230,000 residents and 31 incorporated villages—continues to build innovative ways to connect its communities and celebrate their shared history. “This America 250 site is a one-stop destination for everything happening across our Town as we commemorate this milestone,” said Supervisor DeSena. “From Town-wide fireworks to local village activities, we want to be sure every resident has the opportunity to participate.” Supervisor DeSena has invited all incorporated villages within North Hempstead as well as local civic and community organizations to partner in the effort by submitting their own events to be featured on the Town website. The platform provides resources for residents and is a service to villages and community stakeholders, offering them expanded visibility, coordination, and promotion of local programming. North Hempstead’s new website is designed to bring all local programming together in one, easily accessible location. Residents, community organizations, and visitors will be able to find information about celebrations, educational opportunities, cultural events, and civic initiatives taking place throughout North Hempstead. “America 250” celebrates the founding of the United States and centers around the Declaration of Independence which was signed on July 4, 1776. Governments and municipalities around the nation have planned numerous semiquincentennial events and programs to highlight the nation’s history and reflect on the nation’s achievements. “Each of our neighborhoods is going to host special events for our country’s birthday, so working together is key,” added Councilman Dennis Walsh. “More important, this brings people from every walk of life and background together along with a shared pride in what really matters and what connects us as Americans.” Village officials and community partners are encouraged to share event details and updates via email at: [email protected]. Submissions will be reviewed by the Town and added to the site, as approved. Residents are invited to explore the America 250 landing page, which can also be found on the Town website at www.northhempsteadny.gov as it will be frequently updated as new events and initiatives are announced.
