Pistons Secure Eastern Conference Top Seed, Four Award Finalists Named

The Detroit Pistons, after achieving a 60-win season and clinching the Eastern Conference's No. 1 seed, received multiple award nominations. Four individuals from the team garnered recognition for their performance.

Ausar Thompson is one of three finalists for the NBA's Defensive Player of the Year award. Thompson, in his third professional season, played 73 regular-season games, averaging 2.0 steals and 0.9 blocks per game. His nomination makes him a candidate to become the third Piston to win the award, following Dennis Rodman (1989, 1990, 1991) and Ben Wallace (2001, 2003, 2005, 2006).

Jalen Duren is a finalist for the NBA's Most Improved Player award. In his fourth season, Duren, the 13th overall pick in 2022, earned his first All-Star selection. He averaged 19.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game during the season.

Duncan Robinson received a nomination as one of 12 finalists for the Teammate of the Year Award. No Piston has previously won this award.

Head Coach J.B. Bickerstaff earned his second consecutive Coach of the Year finalist nomination. He previously finished second in the voting during the 2025 season. Bickerstaff guided the Pistons to a 30-win improvement between the 2023-24 and 2024-25 seasons, followed by an additional 16-win improvement in the most recent season.
