Bartlesville Water Rates Rising First Time in 5 Years

Bartlesville residents will see significant water rate increases in fiscal year 2026-27, marking the first hike to water rates in five years, according to a utility rate study still underway.

The City Council will review the study's preliminary findings at its June 1 meeting. The study will recommend rate adjustments for the next five years.

Recent rate increases focused on wastewater operations and capital projects required by the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality. The most expensive of these projects is an expansion of the Chickasaw Waste Water Treatment Plant, estimated to cost more than $100 million.

The Bartlesville Development Authority is fielding inquiries from prospective buyers after Homeland listed all four of its Bartlesville grocery stores for sale, including the United location. The Community Development Department has received no permit applications related to the sales or new grocery developments.

The BDA is also negotiating with several parties interested in developing the Good Shepherd Presbyterian church site, with an announcement expected soon.
