Echols and Clinch County residents should seek immediate shelter due to a strong thunderstorm capable of producing a landspout, with wind gusts up to 40 mph and potential localized flooding, as warned by the National Weather Service until 10:00 PM EDT.
Echols and Clinch County residents are advised to seek immediate shelter indoors due to a strong thunderstorm capable of producing a landspout. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Jacksonville, FL, issued a Special Weather Statement at 9:37 PM EDT, effective until 10:00 PM EDT.
At 9:37 PM EDT, radar indicated a strong thunderstorm 11 miles east of Mayday, or 12 miles east of Statenville, moving north at 30 mph. Hazards include landspouts and wind gusts up to 40 mph. Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible, and gusty winds could down tree limbs and blow around unsecured items. This storm is expected to remain over mainly rural areas of central Echols and west-central Clinch Counties.
Torrential rainfall accompanying this storm may cause localized flooding. Do not drive through flooded roadways. A Tornado Watch remains in effect for northern Florida and southeastern Georgia until 6:00 AM EDT.
