Eaton Rapids Urban Air Festival May 7-10 & Events
Eaton Rapids hosts Urban Air May 7-10, featuring camping, a beer tent, and live entertainment Thursday through Saturday. Friday marks an "eat local" day. Mayor Pam Colestock said the festival will draw fewer campers than last fall's event but maintain the full schedule. Local restaurants reported record sales during the previous Urban Air.
A free Plant and Seed Exchange takes place Sunday, May 3 from 9 a.m. to noon at Howe Field, Pavilion #2. Gardeners can share plants and seeds.
East Knight Street closes for resurfacing from Main Street to East Street starting May 11, weather permitting. The project may extend through June 30. Motorists should expect detours.
Memorial Day observances begin Saturday, May 23 at 9 a.m. at Rosehill Cemetery, where volunteers will place flags at veterans' graves. Participants should meet at the maintenance shop at the back of the cemetery. The Eaton Rapids Lions Club will clean Perennial Park on Wednesday, May 20 at 5 p.m. Volunteers should bring rakes and gloves.
The annual Memorial Day parade steps off Monday, May 25 at 11 a.m. from South River Street, proceeding to State Street, then Main Street north to East Knight Street. The route is new this year. Residents who typically watch south of State Street should relocate closer to downtown. A ceremony will follow at G.A.R. Island Park.
