Residents in Roseau, Lake Of The Woods, East Marshall, North Beltrami, Pennington, Red Lake, East Polk, North Clearwater, Mahnomen, South Clearwater, Towner, Cavalier, Ramsey, and Western Walsh County are advised to take immediate action to protect tender plants from freezing temperatures. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Grand Forks, ND, has issued a Freeze Warning effective from midnight tonight, October 1, until 9:00 AM CDT on Friday, October 2.

Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 31 degrees Fahrenheit are expected. These conditions could harm or kill crops, other sensitive vegetation, and potentially damage unprotected outdoor plumbing. While urban centers may experience slightly warmer temperatures, the NWS urges all residents in the affected areas to prepare.

Take steps now to cover or bring inside any vulnerable plants. Ensure outdoor pipes are adequately insulated if necessary. This warning is issued by NWS Grand Forks ND.
