EARLY – A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Early County, effective immediately, by the National Weather Service (NWS) in Tallahassee, FL. This warning is in effect until October 9, 2026, at 7:15 AM UTC.
Residents in Blakely should complete all preparations now as hazardous winds are imminent. Peak wind gusts of up to 40 mph are expected, with potential for sustained winds of 39 to 57 mph. Damage to porches, awnings, and mobile homes is possible, along with downed tree limbs and scattered power outages. Hazardous driving conditions are anticipated, especially on elevated roadways.
A Flood Watch is also in effect, with 3-6 inches of rain expected, and locally higher amounts possible. Major rainfall flooding is likely, prompting potential evacuations and rescues. Rivers and streams may overflow, and many roads could become impassable. Heed all flood watches and warnings.
The NWS also indicates a favorable situation for several tornadoes, with some potentially intense. Those in manufactured homes or on boats should prepare to relocate to safe shelter. Listen for tornado watches and warnings and be ready to shelter quickly if a warning is issued. Significant damage from tornadoes, including power and communication failures, is possible.
