A woman is facing OWI charges after allegedly performing "donuts" on the Jennings County Courthouse lawn. Authorities are using the incident to remind the public about responsible drinking and safe transportation.

A 67-year-old woman faces operating a vehicle while intoxicated charges after allegedly performing "donuts" on the Jennings County Courthouse lawn in Vernon, Indiana, on Monday.
The Jennings County Sheriff's Office posted a video on social media showing a silver sedan spinning on the lawn. The vehicle kicked up dirt, struck a sign, and narrowly missed a tree, light post, and a brick bench.
Lorraine Phyllis Wilkerson was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated and operating a vehicle with a blood alcohol content of .08 or more, according to reports. The sheriff's office used the incident to remind the public about responsible drinking and safe transportation.
"If you’ve had a few too many margaritas with dinner, please don’t get behind the wheel, and definitely don’t do donuts on the courthouse lawn," the sheriff's office stated in their social media post. They encouraged residents to "enjoy yourselves responsibly and always make arrangements for a safe ride home if you’ve been drinking."
