Journey drummer Deen Castronovo exited the band's concert in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on Thursday night due to a medical emergency. The incident paused the show after two songs.
Keyboardist Jonathan Cain addressed the audience, saying, "We’re going to see what happens as this progresses. It’s an unfortunate situation. We’re very sorry. We’re hoping it’s only a delay, but please — I’m sorry. Don’t worry. Have your prayers ready. Have your prayers ready for Deen Castronovo, everybody. Thank you." The band had already left the stage.
Drum tech Steve Toomey replaced Castronovo, allowing the show to continue. Guitarist Neal Schon thanked the audience for their understanding and introduced Toomey.
Journey is on their Final Frontier farewell tour, which began in February. Castronovo, who also played with Bad English and Ozzy Osbourne, first joined Journey in 1998. He rejoined the band in 2021 after a previous dismissal in 2015.
