Jacksonville Hurricane Preparedness Guide 2026-2027

Jacksonville urges residents to prepare as hurricane season opens

The Jacksonville Emergency Preparedness Division released its 2026-2027 hurricane preparedness guide as the Atlantic hurricane season opened June 1, urging residents to review emergency plans and supplies now.

The guide, available at JaxReady.com and through the JaxReady mobile app, covers four core steps: assembling an emergency kit, creating a household plan, identifying evacuation zones, and establishing information sources.

Mayor Donna Deegan said residents should ensure their families are prepared before a storm threatens. "Preparation is a 365-day-a-year operation," she said.

Andre Ayoub, chief of the Emergency Preparedness Division, encouraged residents to download the guide and discuss emergency plans with their households. "Preparedness saves lives," he said.

This year's guide highlights the Emergency Road Access Team, which coordinates Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department, JEA, and Jacksonville Sheriff's Office personnel to clear roads and restore services after storms.

Hurricane season runs through Nov. 30.
