Jacksonville 250th Anniversary Celebration July 3-4

Jacksonville will mark America's 250th anniversary with free celebrations across downtown on July 3 and 4, featuring live music, fireworks, and family activities.
The Military and Veterans Affairs Department hosts Freedom Fest at Friendship Fountain on July 3 from 5:30 to 10 p.m. Bold City Brass, Navy Pride, Sal Gonzalez, Emily Mikus, and Big Engine will perform. The fountain will display a patriotic light and music show. The first 1,000 attendees receive free apple pies. Food and beverages are available for purchase along the Riverwalk between the fountain and Chart House.
On July 4, three locations host celebrations. Riverfront Plaza at 2 W. Independent Drive runs from 4 to 9:30 p.m. with performances by Sal Gonzalez, Tobacco Road, Bold City Classics, and Lane Pittman. The city will launch its largest Fourth of July fireworks show. Children can enjoy face painting, balloon animals, the River City Readers Bookmobile, and a JAMS student art exhibition.
Southbank celebrations at Friendship Fountain run from 3 to 9:30 p.m. with Scott Halls and Caribe Groove performing. A hot dog eating contest and cornhole tournament take place alongside fireworks viewing.
RiversEdge Park at 1915 RiversEdge Blvd opens from 6 to 9 p.m. as a third fireworks viewing location with music and entertainment.
