Rip Current Risk High in Coastal Duval, Minor Flooding Expected
Coastal Duval County faces a High Rip Current Risk through Saturday night and a Coastal Flood Advisory until Saturday afternoon, with dangerous rip currents and minor flooding expected.
Coastal Duval County residents are advised to exercise extreme caution as the National Weather Service (NWS) Jacksonville FL has issued a High Rip Current Risk and a Coastal Flood Advisory.
The High Rip Current Risk is in effect through late Saturday night, October 11. Dangerous rip currents can sweep even strong swimmers away from shore. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Do not swim against the current. Swim in a direction following the shoreline if able, or face the shore and call or wave for help. Swim near a lifeguard if possible.
The Coastal Flood Advisory is in effect until 2 PM EDT Saturday, October 11. Minor coastal flooding is expected, potentially affecting lots, parks, and roads with isolated closures. If travel is required, allow extra time and do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. Take necessary actions to protect flood-prone property.
These alerts were issued on October 9 at 2:34 AM EDT by NWS Jacksonville FL.
