Strong Thunderstorm Threatens Marshall, Bryan Counties: Seek Shelter

A Special Weather Statement has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) in Norman, OK, for parts of Marshall and Bryan Counties. A strong thunderstorm was detected by Doppler radar at 4:50 PM CDT over Cartwright, moving northeast at 10 mph.

Residents in affected areas, including Durant, Colbert, Silo, Mead, Cartwright, eastern Lake Texoma, Calera, and Mcbride, should be aware of potential wind gusts up to 50 mph and half-inch hail. The NWS indicates that these conditions could lead to gusty winds knocking down tree limbs and blowing around unsecured outdoor objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible.

This Special Weather Statement is effective immediately and is set to expire at 5:15 PM CDT today, September 20, 2026. If you are outdoors in the affected areas, the NWS advises seeking shelter inside a building.
