Stars Stun Avalanche in Game 7, End Denver's Playoff Run

The Colorado Avalanche's playoff run came to a crushing end Saturday night in Dallas as the Stars stormed back with four unanswered third-period goals to win Game 7 of their first-round matchup 4-2 at American Airlines Center.

The Avalanche appeared poised for victory after taking a 2-0 lead early in the third period. Josh Manson scored shorthanded at 9:50 of the second period off a feed from Logan O'Connor, and Nathan MacKinnon extended the advantage just 31 seconds into the third with his seventh playoff goal. But the Stars' resilience proved decisive in the elimination game.

Dallas mounted its comeback behind an unlikely source—former Avalanche forward Mikko Rantanen, who recorded a hat trick and an assist against his old team. Wyatt Johnston cut the deficit to one with a power-play goal at 16:04 of the third period before the Stars' offensive explosion took hold. Rantanen sealed the victory with an empty-net goal at 19:57 to make it 4-2 final.

The loss ends a disappointing first-round exit for the Avalanche, who finished the regular season 44-13-9. Dallas advances to the second round, where they will face either the Winnipeg Jets or St. Louis Blues, with Game 7 of that series scheduled for Sunday at 7 p.m. ET.
