Undersheriff St. John embarked on his distinguished law enforcement career in 1993 with the Pasco County Sheriff's Office before joining HCSO in 1994. Over the years, he has demonstrated exceptional skill in covert investigations and leadership, with specialized experience in street crimes, economic crimes, and special investigations. His expertise is further reflected in his tenure as a Field Training Supervisor, Intelligence Unit Detective and Supervisor, Narcotics Section Detective and Supervisor, and Commander of both the Professional Standards Section and the Community Outreach Division. As Commander of the Community Outreach Division, Undersheriff St. John played a pivotal role as Co-Director of the Public Relations Committee for Super Bowl 55. He remains actively engaged in community service, serving on the executive board for HCSO Charities Inc. and as a board member for More Health Inc. A strong advocate for professional development, Undersheriff St. John is a graduate of Saint Leo University, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement's 10th Executive Leadership Course, and the Florida Criminal Justice Executive Institute. With a clear vision, proven leadership, and a deep commitment to public service, Undersheriff St. John is dedicated to advancing HCSO's mission of excellence. His appointment reinforces the agency's 180-year legacy of integrity, innovation, and community-focused service. He has been married to his wife, Karen, for 36 years, is a proud father of four, and a devoted grandfather.

HCSO joining 31st Annual MLK Parade in Tampa

"Sheriff Chad Chronister and members of the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office will join in the celebration of the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr at the 31st annual MLK Parade in East Tampa today. Sheriff Chronister and deputies will toss beads and walk the 2-mile-long parade route filled with floats, marching bands and local organizations that display the diversity of Tampa Bay. The parade runs from noon to 4 p.m. today. The staging area is located at Cuscaden Park, 2900 N 15th Street. The parade will march down 15th Street and end at Middleton High School, 4801 N 22nd Street. Ahead of the parade, Sheriff Chad Chronister released an MLK Day message to honor Dr. King across all HCSO social media platforms. Gated Community Ordinance

"Gated Community Ordinance County Ordinance #08-24 Hillsborough County Emergency Access to Gated Developments Ordinance Recently the Board of County Commissioners passed an ordinance to mandate that gated communities provide updated security gate access information to law enforcement and other emergency services personnel in order to gain access in a sufficient and timely manner in the event of an emergency. Although the thirty day period has expired, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is reaching out to all gated and non-gated communities to assist them in complying with the ordinance. The Sheriff's Office is requesting that all communities send the pertinent information to the email address given below. The email should include the current name of the community, phone number and address for the main office, and if gated, must include the gate code information. Any changes to security gate access information shall be provided to the authority having jurisdiction over the gated development within twenty four (24) hours of the change in information. This ordinance allows for misdemeanor prosecution of the violator/gated development in county criminal court for non-compliance (pursuant to Florida Statute 125.69).
