A Wind Advisory has been issued for portions of East Tennessee and Southwest Virginia, effective immediately until 8:00 AM EDT (7:00 AM CDT) on Sunday, October 11.

The National Weather Service in Morristown, TN, reports east winds between 20 to 30 mph are expected, with gusts potentially reaching up to 45 mph. Localized gusts up to 50 mph are also possible.

Affected areas include Scott, Campbell, Claiborne, Hancock, Hawkins, Sullivan, Morgan, Anderson, Union, Grainger, Hamblen, Northwest Cocke, Northwest Greene, Washington, Northwest Carter, Roane, Loudon, Knox, Jefferson, Northwest Blount, North Sevier, Sequatchie, Bledsoe, Rhea, Meigs, McMinn, Northwest Monroe, Marion, Hamilton, Bradley, West Polk counties in Tennessee, and Lee, Wise, and Scott counties in Virginia.

These strong winds may make driving difficult, particularly for high-profile vehicles. Residents should use extra caution. Unsecured objects outdoors could be blown around, and tree limbs may be downed. Isolated power outages are also possible. Secure loose outdoor items now to prevent damage or injury.
