The highly anticipated Saturday night baseball game between the Clearwater Threshers and the Lakeland Flying Tigers was canceled due to rain and inclement weather. The decision came after officials deemed the grounds at Publix Field at Joker Marchant Stadium in Lakeland unplayable.
This cancellation left fans who planned to attend the game disappointed. The Threshers, a minor league affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies, were set to face the Flying Tigers, an affiliate of the Detroit Tigers, in a Florida State League matchup.
As of today, September 27, 2026, no makeup date has been announced for the canceled game. This means local baseball enthusiasts will need to wait for further updates regarding the rescheduling of this particular matchup.
The unplayable conditions at Joker Marchant Stadium prompted the decision, prioritizing player safety and the integrity of the game. Fans holding tickets for the September 23rd game should check with the respective teams or ticket vendors for information on refunds or exchanges.
