She is surrounded by other Council Members, City staff and others involved in the creation of the community. True North Longmont Celebrates Grand Opening True North is a new, affordable and attainable for-purchase housing community featuring modern home designs. The community celebrated its grand opening on Thursday, May 28 and is a partnership between the City of Longmont, the Golden family (longtime Longmont residents), and local developer Vertikal. Construction began in October 2024 and will roll out over four phases. Phase 1 is almost complete and consists of 52 homes with several different size and design options. The community will ultimately offer 185 homes. The idea for True North came from a shared vision to increase opportunities for affordable home ownership for Longmont families. The Golden family, who have lived in Longmont for five generations, saw that many families were unable to find homes they could afford. Reggie Golden supported Longmont’s plan for affordable housing and sold the property to the City for less than market value. “I want to recognize the partnership that made True North possible,” said Longmont City Manager, Harold Dominguez. The landowner, the state, the developer and the bank all worked together on creative solutions to create affordable and attainable housing in our City.” Prices for homes in the community begin at $358,500. Learn more on the True North website. Shred old documents – for free – before your home looks like this. Bring up to three file-size boxes of personal documents to Green Girl Recycling. Q: How does the City of Longmont decide when and where to spray for mosquitoes? A: VDCI (Vector Disease Control International), the City’s contractor for adult mosquito control, conducts their operations based on specific criteria. ULV adult mosquito control commences within the City when: 1.) Mosquitos found in traps strategically placed throughout the City reach more than 150 mosquitoes, and 2.) A positive identification of West Nile Virus is found in a mosquito within the three-county area of Weld, Larimer and Boulder Counties. Q: Can community members request notification of spraying, or have their property bypassed? A: VDCI maintains a database of Longmont residents that have made notification or shutoff requests for their property if spraying is scheduled. You can request to be notified before spraying occurs in your neighborhood, ask the spray machine to be shut off when driving past your property, or both. They ask that you please specify your preference on the VDCI website this year, even if you have done so in the past. Templeton Middle School Students Advance to State History Day

More than twenty Templeton Middle School (TMS) eighth graders will compete April 25 at the state level of the National History Day academic enrichment program held at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Finalists were selected following National History Day (NHD) presentations held for regional level judges at Concordia University in March. This year’s theme was ‘Revolution, Reaction, Reform in History.’ TMS 8th grade social studies students have been working on the NHD projects for several weeks.  “This project allows students the opportunity to do a deep dive into a topic of their choice centered around an annual theme established by the National History Day organization,” explains Templeton Middle School Social Studies Teacher Rhonda Watton. “Students are able to collaborate with others if they want, they are able to discover a variety of primary sources, interview others and really be able to become an expert historian on their topics.”  National History Day is an academic enrichment program for students in grades 6-12. Students present their conclusions in a written paper, a performance, an exhibit board, a documentary or a website.  Templeton Middle School students and their projects advancing to the state level are: Individual website:  Kaitlyn Pape – “Invention of the Telephone” Seanleander Hemanand – “Biological Weapons” Rayyan Zia – “Atomic Bomb; Manhattan Project” Group website: Olivia Anderson and Reese Pauli – “Reactions to Vietnam” Conner Phillips, Ekaksha Tyagi and Darsh Ekshinge – “Nike and MJ partnership” Individual exhibit:  Owen Barnekow – “The Little Bohemia Raid” Daniel Viera-Hernandez – “Construction Reform” Mahitha Vijjapu – “Orcas in Captivity” Group exhibit:  Prisha Rohilla and Sanika Kulkarni – “Theory of Evolution” Lena Miller and Madeline Ernst – “The Tylenol Murders” Naomika Kiran and Aditi Patel – “How did AI change the specificity of the human mind?” Paper: Gurshan Kailey – “Art in Renaissance” Zoha Sharief – “Tuskegee Airman” Individual documentary: Chloe Chen – “Salem Witch Trials” Diya Jerine – “Mathilde Franziska Anneke – A Founding Mother” Delainy Wilson – “The Tylenol Murders” Group documentary:  Saanvi Sahoo and Millie Broughton – “Path to Extinction: George Cuvier’s Scientific Revolution” Cameron Riemer, Kayden Hanko and Ryan Petroff – “Dale Earnhardt and the Safety of NASCAR” Alekhya Lingam and Anvi Shukla – “Europe Reacts to Social Darwinism: King Leopold Justifies Bleeding the Congo” The post Templeton students to compete in state National History Day  appeared first on Hamilton School District.

Hamilton Student Wins Teen Art Award, Exhibit Opening

Hamilton High School senior Xzavier Mielke has been named the winner of the Teen Council Choice Award for the Museum of Wisconsin Art (MOWA) 2026 Teen Art Show. His large-format photograph is part of the exhibition titled “To Whom It May Concern: A Teen Perspective on Human Connection,” which runs April 25-June 21. The showcase features artwork from 29 regional high schools. The showcase theme encourages teen artists to consider what a genuine human connection looks and feels like in their lives. Organized by MOWA’s Teen Council, the exhibition recruits young artists to contemplate different contemporary issues and share their unique viewpoints. This year, students reflected on the pathways necessary for building human connection and the obstacles that stand in the way. The exhibition further challenges viewers to reflect on their own meaningful connections with the people around them. The public is invited to attend the exhibit Opening Party on April 25 from 2-4 p.m. MOWA will offer free admission to all visitors during this event. The Museum of Wisconsin Art is located at 205 Veterans Ave., West Bend. The post Hamilton student artwork selected for teen showcase appeared first on Hamilton School District.

Hamilton High to Present 'The Drowsy Chaperone'

" Hamilton High School Drama Society presents “The Drowsy Chaperone” May 1-3 at the Hamilton Fine Arts Center (HFAC). Shows begin at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and at 2 p.m. for the Sunday performance. With the houselights down, a man in a chair appears on stage and puts on his favorite record: the cast recording of a fictitious 1928 musical. The recording comes to life and The Drowsy Chaperone begins as the man in the chair looks on. Mix in two lovers on the eve of their wedding, a bumbling best man, a desperate theatre producer, a not-so-bright hostess, two gangsters posing as pastry chefs, a misguided Don Juan and a chaperone more focused on herself then the bride, and you have the ingredients for an evening of madcap delight. Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for students and seniors. Tickets may be purchased at www.hamiltonfineartscenter.com or at the box office 30 minutes before each performance. The HFAC is located at W220 N6151 Town Line Rd., Sussex. The post Hamilton drama presents “The Drowsy Chaperone” appeared first on Hamilton School District."
