LAURENS AND WHEELER COUNTIES, GA – Residents in Laurens and Wheeler Counties, particularly near Rentz and Cedar Grove, should seek immediate shelter due to an enhanced risk of a brief tornado. The National Weather Service (NWS) Peachtree City has issued a Special Weather Statement, effective until 4:00 AM EDT today, October 10.
At 3:31 AM EDT, NWS Doppler radar detected a strong storm within a tropical rain band near Cedar Grove, located approximately 7 miles northwest of Alamo. This storm is moving north at 30 mph.
Radar data indicates that storms embedded within this tropical rainband are exhibiting localized rotation, and a brief tornado could form quickly. The NWS advises that people outdoors in the affected areas should seek shelter immediately.
This Special Weather Statement specifically impacts areas including Rentz and Cedar Grove. The alert was issued at 3:31 AM EDT and is set to expire at 4:00 AM EDT.
