COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT (CDBG) FIRST PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE Notice is hereby given that Box Elder County will hold a public hearing on October 21, 2026 at the Box Elder County Courthouse 1 South Main Brigham City, Utah in the Commission Chambers at 1:00 pm. Box Elder County is eligible to apply to the Utah Department of Workforce Services for funding under the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Small Cities Program, a federally funded program administered by the State of Utah, Housing and Community Development Division (HCD). Box Elder County is eligible to apply for CDBG funding provided Box Elder County meets the applicable program requirements. The purpose of the public hearing is to provide citizens with pertinent information about the Community Development Block Grant program and to allow for discussion of possible applications. This public hearing will cover eligible activities, program requirements, and expected funding allocations in the region. The CDBG Program can fund a broad range of activities, including, but not limited to: construction of public works and facilities, e.g., water and sewer lines, fire stations, acquisition of real property, and provision of public services such as food banks or homeless shelters. In the event that Box Elder County chooses to apply for CDBG funding, a second public hearing will be held at a later time to discuss the project. Iron CountySkip to main content Overview The main responsibilities of the Road Department are maintaining the 968 miles of road in Iron County. As of June 2013, Iron County has 224 miles of paved, 453 miles of gravel, and 291 miles of dirt roads. The Roads Department is also responsible for snow removal during the winter months. Service Requests A Service Request is a way for the general public to submit non-emergency problems or requests for service in their community. Class B & C Road Program The Class B & C road system with a funding program was established by the Utah Legislature in 1937 as a means of providing assistance to counties and incorporated municipalities for the improvement of roads and streets throughout the State. The funds differ from ordinary local revenues inasmuch as they are subject to administrative direction by the State in accordance with legislative provisions. The Utah Department of Transportation (opens in a new tab) is the administrative authority on behalf of the State (Utah Code 72-2-109). The procedures and regulations are designed to function by mutual accord among all agencies concerned. They have the approval and endorsement of both the Utah Association of Counties (opens in a new tab) and the Utah League of Cities and Towns (opens in a new tab). Class B & C Roads: All public highways, roads, or streets that are designated as Class B by the county or Class C by the municipality having jurisdictional authority to do so. Counties and municipalities cannot designate Class B or Class C roads outside of their geographical boundaries, with the exception that Class B roads can exist inside municipal boundaries (Utah Codes 17-50-305, 72-3-103, and 72-3-104).
