Public Comment Sought on Federal Court Rule Changes

The United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida is seeking public input on proposed amendments to its Local General Rules. The court invites comments from the public, the legal bar, and anyone who files papers with the court.

The Ad Hoc Committee on Rules and Procedures recommended the changes, which govern proceedings within the district. The court wants to offer individuals an opportunity to voice their opinions before making final decisions.

The Clerk of the Court will publish notice of the proposed amendments in the Daily Business Review and post the order and proposed rule changes on the court's website. The court also plans to notify its bar through the CM/ECF electronic noticing system. Copies of the order and proposed amendments will be available upon request.

A public hearing was scheduled for 3 p.m. Oct. 5, 2017, at the Paul G. Rogers Federal Building and United States Courthouse, 701 Clematis Street in West Palm Beach. Those wishing to speak at the hearing were required to file written notice with the Clerk of the Court at least two days prior. Written comments also could be submitted via the court's website.
