A Special Weather Statement has been issued for the Houston area, effective immediately until 3:30 PM CDT today, October 2, 2026. Residents are advised to seek shelter indoors if outdoors.
The National Weather Service in Tallahassee, FL, reports that Doppler radar at 2:46 PM CDT detected a strong thunderstorm located 7 miles east of Cottonwood. The storm is moving northwest at 15 mph and is expected to bring wind gusts up to 40 mph.
Potential impacts include downed tree limbs and unsecured objects being blown around. Areas impacted include Cottonwood, Dothan, Taylor, Ashford, Cowarts, Webb, Rehobeth, Avon, Gordon, Memphis, Pansey, Crosby, Grangeburg, Sigma, Enon, Wilson Mill, Barber, Keytons, Pleasant Plains, and Smyrna.
