The National Weather Service (NWS) in Dodge City, KS, has issued a Special Weather Statement for parts of Ford and Clark counties due to a strong thunderstorm. The statement was issued today, September 30, 2026, at 12:51 PM CDT and is effective until 1:30 PM CDT.
At 12:50 PM CDT, Doppler radar detected a strong thunderstorm near Bloom, moving north at 25 mph. This storm is capable of producing wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph. While not an imminent threat, the NWS states that the environment could also support brief, weak tornadoes.
Residents in the path of this storm, particularly in and around Bloom and Ford, should be aware of potential impacts. Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. The storm is expected to be near Bloom around 12:55 PM CDT.
