AUM Guitar Club Grows Community Through Music and Peer Connection

Warhawk Weekly 7-7: Guitar Club community; Start AUM strong July 7, 2026 Guitar Club grows community Fall orientation College of Business Associate Dean Seeking campus officers Math placement test How one student’s love of guitar created a lasting AUM community Recent AUM graduate Arlyssea Thomas turned her interest in learning guitar into a growing campus community. Before graduating in Spring 2026, Thomas founded the AUM Guitar Club to bring students together through music and create a welcoming space for Warhawks of all experience levels to learn, practice and connect. Now entering its second semester as an official student organization, the Guitar Club welcomes beginners and experienced players alike. Under the leadership of club president Brandi Kitts, a senior majoring in early childhood education, members practice songs, learn guitar fundamentals and receive support from peers and faculty advisor Russell Chambliss, military admissions associate in AUM’s Veterans and Military Resource Center. Students do not need to own a guitar to participate, as the club provides electric, acoustic and acoustic-electric guitars for use during meetings. Looking ahead, the Guitar Club hopes to expand through jam sessions, workshops, performances and community service projects. Students interested in joining can email [email protected], [email protected] or [email protected]. The club also shares updates on Instagram at aum_guitarclub and communicates with members through GroupMe. Read the full story in the AUM Newsroom. Back to the Top Orientation helps students start strong at AUM Ahead of the start of classes in August, incoming students and their families can visit campus to learn about the AUM community. Orientation helps students register for classes, connect with campus resources, meet fellow Warhawks and prepare for a successful start to the semester. Building these connections and gaining the tools needed to thrive at AUM helps students feel confident and prepared from day one. The next orientation session will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Friday, July 10 on campus with additional sessions set for July 17, 25 and 31; and Aug. 7 and 14. Unpack more details about orientation and register for your preferred orientation session: https://www.aum.edu/admissions/undergraduate-student-orientation/ Back to the Top Help shape the future of AUM’s College of Business as associate dean Are you passionate about student success, academic excellence, and supporting initiatives to help students thrive?
