Dense Fog Advisory Issued for Kankakee, Iroquois, and Surrounding Counties
A Dense Fog Advisory has been issued for Kankakee, Iroquois, and surrounding counties until 10:00 AM CDT today, with visibility expected to be a quarter-mile or less.
Drivers in Kankakee, Iroquois, Ford, Southern Will, Eastern Will, Lake (IN), Porter (IN), Newton (IN), Jasper (IN), and Benton (IN) counties should prepare for hazardous driving conditions this morning due to a Dense Fog Advisory.
The National Weather Service (NWS) in Chicago has issued a Moderate Severity Dense Fog Advisory, effective immediately, September 28, 2026, at 3:44 AM CDT, until 10:00 AM CDT today. Visibility is expected to be a quarter-mile or less in dense fog.
The affected areas include Ford, Iroquois, Eastern Will, Kankakee, and Southern Will Counties in Illinois, and Benton, Jasper, Lake (IN), Newton (IN), and Porter (IN) Counties in Indiana.
The NWS advises motorists to slow down, use their headlights, and leave plenty of distance ahead of them to ensure safety during these conditions.
