Palm Beach Libraries: Free Medicare Enrollment Workshops

Residents can learn about Medicare coverage options at free workshops offered by the Palm Beach County Library System. These sessions, in partnership with SHINE (Serving Health Insurance Needs of Elders), provide unbiased counseling for Medicare beneficiaries, their families, and caregivers.

The workshops aim to clarify plan choices and help attendees make informed decisions before the Medicare Open Enrollment period begins Oct. 15. More than a quarter of Palm Beach County residents are 65 or older, with U.S. Census Bureau estimates for 2025 indicating about 411,000 of the county's 1.57 million residents fall into this age group.

Trained SHINE volunteers will explain Medicare coverage and various plan options, answer questions and help participants compare choices. SHINE offers free, unbiased Medicare counseling independently and does not represent or sell insurance plans.

“Access to reliable, unbiased information is essential when making decisions about Medicare,” Library Director Doug Crane said. “The Palm Beach County Library System is proud to partner with organizations like SHINE that can connect residents with trusted resources and information at convenient locations throughout the county.”

Two upcoming workshops require preregistration. The Main Library will host a session Tuesday, Sept. 29, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. The Okeechobee Boulevard Branch will hold a workshop Wednesday, Sept. 30, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Register for sessions on the Palm Beach County Library System's website.
