Adventist Health Awards $300K to Bakersfield College Nursing
Adventist Health will distribute $300,000 over three years to Bakersfield College's nursing and allied health programs, the health system announced this week.
The funding will support scholarships, equipment for training labs, and program expansion. Bakersfield College will use the money to address a documented shortage of nurses, medical technicians, and other healthcare workers in Kern County, particularly in rural areas.
The college trains students for careers as registered nurses, licensed vocational nurses, respiratory therapists, and radiologic technologists. Graduates typically work at local hospitals, clinics, and care facilities.
Adventist Health operates multiple facilities across Kern County. The three-year commitment allows the college to plan sustained improvements rather than make one-time purchases.
