Residents in North Fulton, Gwinnett, South Fulton, DeKalb, and Clayton counties are advised to seek shelter immediately due to a Special Weather Statement issued by the National Weather Service Peachtree City, GA. The statement is effective from 6:21 AM EDT and expires at 7:15 AM EDT today, October 10.
At 6:19 AM EDT, heavy rain was centered over Lakewood Park, near Atlanta, and was nearly stationary. This weather event includes a hazard of 40 to 50 mph winds and an enhanced risk for downed trees. Radar indications confirm these conditions.
Impacts include minor damage to tree limbs and blowing around of light, unsecured objects. The NWS also warns that trees can down more easily due to already wet soil from previous rainfall. The following locations are impacted: Atlanta, Decatur, Peachtree Corners, City of South Fulton, Sandy Springs, Roswell, Dunwoody, East Point, Duluth, Forest Park, Riverdale, College Park, Lilburn, Chamblee, Norcross, Doraville, Clarkston, Morrow, Hapeville, and Stone Mountain.
