GE Appliances $28M Decatur Plant Investment & Clinic
GE Appliances will invest $28 million to upgrade its Decatur manufacturing facility with advanced thermoforming technology and construct an on-site primary care clinic for employees and their families.
The Haier-owned company plans to modernize production lines using thermoforming equipment that shapes plastic materials with heat and pressure for appliance components like refrigerator liners and washing machine parts. The clinic will provide routine medical services, allowing workers to avoid leaving the facility for appointments.
The investment represents one of the larger capital projects in Decatur's manufacturing sector in recent years. GE Appliances operates a major industrial facility in the city.
The company has not announced a completion timeline, whether the investment will add jobs, or whether the expansion will primarily enhance existing operations.
