Manatee Memorial Hospital Gets 'A' Safety Grade

Manatee Memorial Hospital earned an "A" Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit that rates hospitals on patient safety metrics including medical errors, accidents, injuries, and infections.

The Leapfrog Group assigns letter grades from "A" to "F" to general hospitals across the country. The organization updates grades twice yearly.

"Earning an 'A' Hospital Safety Grade reflects the unwavering commitment of our physicians, nurses and entire care team to delivering the highest standards of safe, quality care," said Judy Young, Chief Nursing Officer at Manatee Memorial.

Leah Binder, President and CEO of The Leapfrog Group, said the grade signals that Manatee Memorial "is deeply committed to protecting patients from harm." She credited the hospital's leadership, board, clinicians, staff, and volunteers.

Preventable medical errors, infections, and injuries kill more than 500 people daily in the United States, according to Leapfrog. The organization's Hospital Safety Grade program is the only ratings system dedicated solely to these preventable harms.
