Hal Mumme's role as head coach and managing partner for the Indianapolis Capitols of the Continental Football League (COFL) concluded earlier this year, with the franchise suspending operations shortly before its planned 2026 season.
Mumme was announced as the head coach and managing partner for the Capitols on February 25, 2026. However, by the time the 2026 season was slated to begin, Mumme was no longer involved with the team. The Capitols ultimately suspended operations before their inaugural season could commence.
Following Mumme's departure, Mike Vanderjagt, a former kicker for the Indianapolis Colts, was named as his replacement as head coach for the Capitols.
The Indianapolis Capitols' inaugural season has since been postponed to 2027.
