Daytona Beach residents interested in the city's development will find new details regarding the Beachside Redevelopment Board. The board's structure and membership requirements have been clarified through amendments to the Land Development Code.

Article 2 §3 (b) of the Land Development Code, as amended by Ordinance No. 15-23, now stipulates that the Beachside Redevelopment Board will consist of seven voting members. Additionally, a member from the Planning Board will serve as an ex officio, non-voting member. The City Commission is responsible for appointing these members.

To be eligible for the board, members must either reside in or have their principal place of business within the Main Street Redevelopment Area (MSRA) or the South Atlantic Redevelopment Area (SARA). A majority of the board members must also be residents of Daytona Beach.

Appointments to the board are for two-year staggered terms, with members eligible for reappointment. However, no member, excluding ex officio members, can serve more than two consecutive terms. Members will continue their duties until their successors are appointed, and any vacancies will be filled only for the remainder of the unexpired term.

The board is tasked with electing a Chair and Vice-Chair annually from its membership. The Chair is limited to two consecutive terms, while the Vice-Chair can be elected to successive terms without limitation. Board members serve without compensation but are required to file an annual electronic Statement of Financial Disclosure, Form 1.

Ken Thomas, Redevelopment Director, serves as the staff liaison for the board and can be reached at (386) 671-8180. The board typically meets on the second Wednesday of each month.
