Sevier County Passes Fourth Straight Clean Audit

Sevier County Earns Fourth Straight Clean Audit

Sevier County received a clean audit from the Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury for fiscal year 2025, marking the fourth consecutive year without audit findings.

A clean audit means county financial records passed review for accuracy and compliance with accounting standards. Only 15 Tennessee counties achieved this status for fiscal year 2025.

County Mayor Larry Waters said the result reflects "a strong, consistent commitment to doing things the right way." Vice Mayor Bryan McCarter credited coordination across multiple departments. "Clean audits don't happen by chance," he said. "They are the product of coordination, accountability, and extensive behind-the-scenes work."

Brooke Huffaker, assistant county mayor and senior director of finance and administration, attributed the achievement to staff focus on accuracy and internal processes.
