Humane Society of Sumter County: Meet Cherry!

Cherry | Cane Corso/Mastiff | Brindle | Female | Spayed

Cherry | Cane Corso/Mastiff | Brindle | Female | Spayed WHAT’S THAT BARN DOING HERE? Hi everyone! I’m Cherry, I’m a four-year-old Mastiff/Cane Corso mix with a big body, 85 pounds, and an even bigger heart. I was found as a stray and taken to Sumter County Animal Services, where some wonderful humans helped me right away. I had a prolapse that needed fixing, a cherry eye, sore hips (they call it hip dysplasia), and I tested heartworm positive – but don’t worry, heartworm disease can’t be transmitted to people or other pets. Now I’m living with the Humane Society of Sumter County, and I started heartworm treatment as soon as I arrived. Even with all that, I’m still my happy, wiggly self. When I meet people, my whole body wiggles like it’s saying hello before my mouth does. I’m sweet, playful, and full of life – I love you already. Gentle Days, Big Love Right now, my job is to rest and stay calm while my heartworm treatment does its thing. I promise I’m very good at calm – I’m a total couch potato who loves soft spots and quiet company. I’m housebroken, gentle with kids, good with cats, and polite about food (no begging here!) I also enjoy the simple joys: toys, especially tennis balls!, easy walks where I’m non-reactive to other dogs, and car rides where I ride like a pro. My hips may need some extra care, but my spirit is pure sunshine. If you spend even one day with me, I just know you’ll feel it. My Calm Days Before the Big Happy Here’s the bestest part: I can be Foster-To-Adopt right now. That means I can live with my new family while I finish heartworm treatment – and after that, the Humane Society of Sumter County will fix my cherry eyes, (my third eyelid). They cover all my veterinary care until I’m ready for my final adoption. Easy, right? All I need is a loving home where I can rest and heal, and keep being my joyful, wiggly self. I promise loyalty, cuddles, and a whole lot of love in return. Bring me home – I just might be your cherry on top!!! If you’d like to schedule a meet-and-greet with Cherry, complete an adoption application to be contacted by an Adoption Counselor. Become a Foster
