BALDWIN COASTAL — A Storm Surge Warning has been issued for Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, and Fort Morgan, effective immediately, by the National Weather Service (NWS) Mobile AL. Residents in these areas should complete evacuations urgently as life-threatening conditions are expected.
The NWS forecasts a potential for 4-7 feet of storm surge above ground through Saturday morning. Wind speeds are expected to reach 45-55 mph with gusts up to 85 mph, with a window for tropical storm force winds from early Friday afternoon until early Saturday morning. Potential impacts include extensive structural damage, impassable roads, and widespread power outages. Rainfall of 4-8 inches is also expected, with a Flood Watch in effect, potentially causing major flooding. Several tornadoes are also possible.
Residents are advised to move to safe shelter before winds become hazardous and to leave immediately if evacuation orders are given to avoid being cut off from emergency services.
