An Extreme Storm Surge Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service Mobile AL for Baldwin Central, including Daphne, Fairhope, and Foley, effective immediately, October 8 at 9:57 PM CDT. This warning is for life-threatening conditions and expires October 9 at 6:00 AM UTC.
Residents in surge-prone areas face a potential for 4-6 feet above ground inundation through Saturday morning. Evacuation efforts and flood preparations must be completed urgently. If evacuation orders are given for your area, leave immediately to avoid being cut off from emergency services. Extensive impacts are expected, including considerable roof damage, uprooted trees, impassable roads, and widespread power outages. Peak winds of 45-55 mph with gusts up to 70 mph are forecast from early Friday afternoon until early Saturday morning, with potential for Cat 1 or 2 hurricane force winds (74 to 110 mph). Prepare for considerable wind damage and move to safe shelter before hazardous winds arrive.
